Kevin McDonald – One Line Premise Workshop

Comedy legend Kevin McDonald brings his sketch writing techniques to Anchorage! This workshop will teach you the skill of sketch writing based on a one-line premise. Come prepared to pitch sketch ideas and write. Bring your own preferred writing supplies (paper, pencil, pen, tablet, computer, etc.) and be prepared to actively participate. “What if the bears in Denali commented on the tourists?” Kevin will help you turn ideas like this into a full sketch.
Students will have an opportunity to submit written sketches to Kevin for feedback after the workshop. No experience necessary.
Kevin McDonald is a comedian, actor, writer, and director, and is best known as one of the founding members of the iconic comedy troupe “The Kids in the Hall,” which he started with Dave Foley after they met at Toronto’s Second City. In 2006, Kevin hosted Sketch with Kevin McDonald on CBC, which won a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Taped Live Performance. Most recently, he and the rest of “The Kids in the Hall” revived their sketch show for a new season on Amazon Prime.
